UPDATE: Work planned for U.S. Route 59, Route 752 and Route U interchange Saturday

Continuation of U.S. Route 59 resurfacing project

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The project to resurface U.S. Route 59 on the south side of St. Joseph is progressing and will include intersection work on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Herzog Contracting Corporation to resurface just over 13 miles of U.S. Route 59 from Route 752 in St. Joseph to just north of Route 45. Crews are milling off the old surface and then laying down new asphalt through this area.

The work is planned in the intersection beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, and will be done with single-lane closures. Motorists in the area should slow down, obey all traffic signs and flaggers in the area, and use extreme caution as crews and equipment will be working near drivers.

The crew’s normal hours will be during daylight hours, Monday through Saturday. Some work may occur on Sundays, if necessary, to complete the project on schedule. The contractor hopes to have all work completed in early November.

All work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled.

MoDOT encourages all travelers to slow down, especially in work zones, as there will be large equipment and workers near the driving lanes. As always, please buckle up, eliminate distractions, pay attention and drive safely so everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
