ST. LOUIS – Drivers heading into and out of St. Louis on Interstate 64 should consider alternate routes or expect delays as crews will close the left lane and shoulder on westbound I-64 between Kingshighway and Hampton for an unknown length of time.
Crews have determined that a significant amount of earth has washed out from underneath the roadway, and must determine the cause and a safe and appropriate fix for the area.
At this time, it is unknown when the lanes will reopen.
Once crews have investigated the roadway and determined the cause and the next steps, the department will share additional information.
This lane closure will significantly impact both the morning and evening rush periods. Roughly 70,000 vehicles use westbound I-64 in this area.
