Christian County – Eastbound drivers on Christian County Route CC at 22nd Street in Ozark will find a new traffic configuration by the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 30, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
MoDOT, in a partnership with the city of Ozark, will resurface the intersection and then restripe the pavement to create two eastbound lanes on Christian County Route CC approaching 22nd Street. Crews also will create a new right turn lane on Route CC to southbound 22nd Street. The existing eastbound left-turn lane to northbound 22nd Street will remain in place.
Crews also will adjust the traffic signals over eastbound Route CC to line up over the newly created lanes.
The traffic pattern change will create two new eastbound lanes of traffic through the Route CC/22nd Street intersection which will increase the traffic movement to the diverging diamond interchange at Route CC/J and Route 65. The change will reduce eastbound traffic backups somewhat.
Drivers who travel through the intersection will see nighttime work taking place starting as early as Thursday night, Sept. 26. MoDOT and contractor crews will work each night, from Sept. 26 through Sept. 30, between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Here’s a look at the schedule:
- Thursday-Saturday night, Sept. 26-28: MoDOT crews will remove striping at the intersection.
- Traffic impacts:
- Lane closings possible on Route CC. One lane open in each direction.
- Sunday night, Sept. 29: Contractor crews will apply a thin asphalt resurfacing through the intersection, between a point west of Route 65 and 23rd Street.
- Traffic impacts:
- Lane closings possible on Route CC. One lane open in each direction.
- 22nd Street CLOSED on either side of Route CC. Drivers will be able to access businesses from other nearby streets.
- Monday night, Sept. 30: MoDOT crews will restripe the intersection into its new traffic pattern.
- Traffic impacts:
- Lane closings possible on Route CC. One lane open in each direction.
- 22nd Street CLOSED at times on either side of Route CC. Drivers will be able to access businesses from other nearby streets.
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
