Route E bridge over Black Jack Creek to close from Sept. 13 through Dec. 1 for bridge replacement

Traffic Alert: Route E bridge over Black Jack Creek to close from Sept. 13 through Dec. 1 for bridge replacement

JOHNSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the bridge on Route E that goes over Black Jack Creek in Johnson County from Sept. 13 through Dec. 1. MoDOT crews will widen the one-lane bridge into two lanes during that time.

The bridge over Black Jack Creek is located 4.7 miles west of Route 23 and was built in 1936. It is among the 10,400 bridges Missouri maintains. There are currently 909 bridges in Missouri that have been ranked “poor” by the Federal Highway Administration. Visit our www.modot.org/bridges for more information about Missouri’s bridge system.

Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes during the duration of the Route E bridge closure. There will not be any signed detours for this project. All work is weather dependent.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
