Preparations begin for demolition of old Champ Clark Bridge

HANNIBAL – Since its opening on August 3, travelers both local and afar have enjoyed the new Champ Clark Bridge located across the Mississippi River on U.S. 54 in Louisiana, Missouri. Motorists will continue to see an array of activity as crews prepare for the final stages of the project, including the demolition of the old bridge.

The old Champ Clark Bridge, built in 1928, was officially closed to traffic on Friday, August 30.  This week, Massman Construction Company will begin milling off the surface and preparing to begin dismantling the old bridge prior to full demolition which is expected to occur sometime in October. Work on other aspects of the project  are wrapping up as the clay core for the Sny Levee is now complete, and crews progress on finishing the entrance to the Two Rivers Marina.

Join Massman Construction Company and the entire Champ Clark Bridge team for our monthly project update meeting held the last Saturday of the month in Riverview Park in Louisiana. Project updates and additional information about the project can be found at the Champ Clark Bridge website,www.champclarkbridge.com or the Champ Clark Bridge page on facebook.
