Phelps County I-44/Route V Interchange Closure Extended

ROLLA – Efforts to improve the driving surface of the Interstate 44/Route V interchange in Rolla will last longer than originally scheduled.

Contractors are replacing the current asphalt on the entrance and exit ramps with full-depth concrete pavement. The project will improve the quality of the road for motorists and allow the pavement to better handle the high volume of tractor trailers utilizing the ramps at the interchange.

The contractor for the project informed the Missouri Department of Transportation of several unanticipated issues, including pavement removal, underground utilities and weather conditions, that will likely extend the road closure while work is completed.

Work is now expected to be completed by Wednesday, August 28. MoDOT will notify motorists when the road is opened through the Central District social media pages as well as on the Traveler Information Map available at modot.org or through MoDOT’s smartphone app which can be downloaded for free on iphone and android phones.
