Mill Creek Bridge on Route 111 set to be replaced

Route 111 will close at the bridge during construction

CORNING, Mo. – Located just north of Corning on Route 111, the Mill Creek Bridge has served motorists since 1936. A replacement project to bring the Atchison County bridge up to current standards will be led by contractors from Boone Construction Company, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation. Crews plan to close the bridge to all traffic on the morning of Monday, Aug. 26, 2019. Work will continue into November with contractors planning to reopen the bridge before the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Crews are working with the levee district, as this year’s ongoing flooding has impacted many different agencies. Careful coordination and communication went into the planning of the schedule of work and will continue throughout the project. As with all construction, work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
