MoDOT set to celebrate the completion of new dual bridge in Liberty, MO

LEE’S SUMMIT – The Missouri Department of Transportation, the Cities of Liberty and Kansas City will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to help celebrate the completion of a new dual bridge, located at Route 152 and I-35 in Clay County.

The ceremony will take place Monday, August 26, at 11 a.m. on the south portion of the new dual bridge. Attendees should plan to park on the west end of the dual bridge and use existing sidewalks to access the event area. There will be no parking onsite.

Back in March of 2019, crews for the Missouri Department of Transportation began building the two companion bridges with eight lanes in one and three lanes in the other. Part of the new dual bridge system will have a new displaced-left Diverging Diamond configuration.

While the new dual bridge is a major milestone in the project, there is still work to be completed that will cause traffic disruptions.

The overall project will replace the Route 152 Bridge over I-35; make improvements to Kansas Street and Route 291, and add wider driving lanes and additional turn lanes. The project will also address bicycle and pedestrian needs along the corridor with sidewalks and multiple-use paths.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of August 2020. For more information on the project, or to watch a video of how the DDI works, go to, https://www.modot.org/152-interchange-project
