JEFFERSON CITY – David Silvester, a licensed professional engineer, will assume the job of district engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Kansas City District on Sept. 1. He is replacing Brian Kidwell, who is retiring.
The Kansas City District Office serves nine counties: Cass, Clay, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Platte, Pettis, Ray and Saline.
Silvester began his career with MoDOT in 1992 as a highway designer in Kansas City, working his way up to the position of assistant state design engineer. He then served as the assistant district engineer in MoDOT’s Northeast District, before becoming the Central District engineer in 2011.
“I’m excited to put my education and experience to work serving citizens in Kansas City and its surrounding communities,” Silvester said. “I look forward to meeting city and county leadership in the nine counties the district office serves. My goal is to continue the good work that is already being accomplished in the Kansas City area, while also looking for ways we can improve and get better.”
Silvester is a graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He and his wife Dianna have two grandchildren, Emma and Joe. In his spare time, Silvester enjoys watching his grandkids’ sporting activities, building things and riding his motorcycle.
