Sidewalk Improvements on Route 54, Business Loop 49

In Nevada Scheduled to Begin Week of July 29

Nevada – Drivers should watch for contractor crews making sidewalk improvements and working close to traffic along Austin Boulevard (Missouri Route 54) and Osage Boulevard (Business Loop 49) in Nevada beginning the week of July 29, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will upgrade sidewalks to conform to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Specifically, the work will include replacing sidewalk along with installing curb ramps and pedestrian signals in areas along Austin Street between Perkins Street and Barrett Street and along Osage Boulevard between Atlantic Avenue and Austin Boulevard.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Occasional lane closings at night (7 p.m.-7 a.m.)
  • Flaggers directing traffic through the work zone where crews have closed lanes
  • All lanes will be open to traffic during daytime hours

 

Signs and message board will alert drivers to the work zone. 

Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule. 

Project Information:

  • Prime contractor: Sprouls Construction Inc., Lamar
  • Total project cost: $3.1 million
  • Contract completion date: December 20, 2019
