Pavement, intersection improvements on Gaines Drive

In Clinton scheduled to begin week of Aug. 5

Clinton – Drivers can expect lane closings and possible traffic delays when a project to improve the pavement and intersections on Gaines Drive between Missouri Route 13 and Missouri Route 52 begins the week of August 5, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The project includes:

  • Moving the entrance to Gaines Drive from Route 13 near Golden Valley Memorial Hospital 400 feet to the north
  • Improving the pavement on Gaines Drive between Route 13 east to the Missouri Department of Transportation Project Office and Maintenance Facility
  • Extending Gaines Drive east from the MoDOT facilities to connect with Route 52

During the project, it will be necessary to detour the Katy Trail from the parking lot at the trail head north along Route 52 and back to the railway bed at DZF Road. For safety reasons, trail users are urged to follow the detour to avoid construction areas.

The project, a 50/50 partnership between the City of Clinton and MoDOT, will improve safety and access to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital.

Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.

Project background:

  • Prime contractor: Capital Paving and Construction LLC, Columbia
  • Completion date: December 12, 2019
  • Total project cost: $3.4 million
