REVISED at 6 p.m. - 7/25/2019

SIKESTON - Route 61 in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced with a 10-foot width restriction as contractor crews perform pavement improvements. The project limits will extend from south of Interstate 55 at Fruitland, Missouri, to Route 25. Improvements will be completed in three phases.

Contractors will first extend the right turn lane at Route D.

During the next phase of the project, crews will perform pavement repairs from south of Interstate 55 to Madison Street in Jackson, Missouri. A detour will be available for southbound traffic as work is underway from Route D to Madison Street for a duration of 15 days.

The final phase of the project will include resurfacing from south of Interstate 55 to Route 25.

Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, July 29 through Friday, Nov. 1. During this multi-phase project, crews will work at various times – including overnight as necessary.

The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
