Weight Restriction on Greene Co. Rt. J Culvert Over Branch of James River Due to Deterioration

Greene County – A recent inspection of a culvert on Greene County Route J over a branch of the James River just south of Farm Road 168 east of Springfield revealed deteriorating conditions prompting an immediate need to place weight limits on the bridge, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

All vehicles will be limited to 40 tons.

The legal maximum weight limit for vehicles in a commercial zone in Missouri is 70 tons.

The bridge was built in 1920s or 1930s and carries approximately 864 vehicles a day.

MoDOT is considering options to replace the culvert.
