Citizen Advisory Group Meeting Friday for US 61/Route F Intersection Improvement

HANNIBAL - The second meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Group (CAG) for US 61/Route F intersection improvements will be held Friday, February 3 at 8 a.m. at the Marion County Courthouse in Palmyra.

The first meeting was held a few weeks ago, and MoDOT presented various options that could be considered to make safety improvements at this intersection.  All eight members of the CAG were in attendance and shared feedback.  Several members of the public also attended and, again, are invited to attend this meeting.

“MoDOT’s continual monitoring of motor vehicle crashes indicates this area is one of the higher priority intersections in the 17 counties in our district,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Haeffner. "While we do not have specific funding identified for improvements at this time, we want to go ahead and determine, with the public’s input, how we can move forward with making safety improvements,” he added.

Upon determine of the most feasible option, a public meeting will be held.

Members of the CAG include State Representative Lindell Shumake, Presiding County Commissioner Lyndon Bode, City of Palmyra Councilman Nathan Miller, City of Palmyra Police Chief Ed Bogue, Joella Dryden with BASF, Rusty Rothweiler with Sydenstrickers, Bill Goldinger representing the agriculture community, and Norman Ellerbrock, area resident.
