One Lane of Interstate 49 Closing for Preliminary Work on Upcoming Project

CASS/JACKSON COUNTIES – The left lane of both northbound and southbound Interstate 49 will be closed between Route 150 to 163rd Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 through Thursday, Feb. 9, to allow crews to prepare for the upcoming 155th Street Bridge demolition, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Motorists traveling in the vicinity of I-49 and 155th Street in Cass and Jackson counties beginning Friday, Feb. 10, will need to take a signed detour or be aware that traffic may be affected due to bridge demolition and construction.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.

MoDOT urges all motorists to be alert, obey warning signs and use caution when driving through work zones.
