Update for Week of February 13, 2017
- Crews and equipment entering and leaving Route 65 median south of Springfield Lake
Work Scheduled:
- Building concrete barrier wall south of Springfield Lake bridge
- Installing storm drains in Route 65 median south of Evans Road
Traffic Impacts:
- Crews and equipment entering and leaving Route 65 median near Evans Road
- Southbound Route 65 ramp from eastbound Route 60 extended across Springfield Lake bridge. Drivers encouraged to use extended ramp and merge into southbound Route 65 after crossing bridge.
- EARLY HEADS UP: In mid-March, northbound Route 65 traffic shifted to widened portion of southbound bridge. Four lanes remain open on Route 65 during high traffic volume times. Traffic shift needed to give room for replacement of northbound Route 65 bridge over Springfield Lake.
- ROAD/TRAIL CLOSINGS:
- Timbercrest Road underneath Route 65, the Galloway Greenways trail and the James River Water trail CLOSED until fall 2017
- Drivers urged to use alternate routes to get around the Timbercrest Road closing
- Trail users are urged to use other Greenways trails in the area
- Route 65 speed limit reduced in work zone
(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.)
Project Summary:
- Widen Route 65 to six lanes — three lanes in each direction — between Route 60 and a point south of Evans Road to continue the progress to six lane Route 65 toward Ozark
- Widen and rehabilitate southbound Route 65 bridge over Lake Springfield to accommodate new lanes and to lengthen eastbound Route 60-to-southbound Route 65 ramp
- Replace northbound Route 65 bridge over Lake Springfield with new, wider span to replace old bridge in constant need of repair
- Extend northbound Route 65 ramps to Route 60
