Route 65 Pavement Reconstruction Project

In Springfield Awarded to Contractor

Springfield, Greene County – The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission today awarded a project to rebuild the original, outside two lanes of Route 65 in Springfield to a St. Charles contractor, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Millstone Weber of St. Charles, Mo. was the low bidder for the project, known as Route 65: THE REBUILD, which will reconstruct the original concrete pavement on Route 65 between Kearney Street and Sunshine Street in Springfield this summer.

Millstone Weber’s bid was $7.9 million.

Over the next several weeks, MoDOT and Millstone Weber will work together to determine the construction timeline for the project.

Once the schedule is determined, MoDOT and the contractor will hold a public meeting to lay out the project schedule for the Springfield community.

Sections of Route 65 in one direction ONLY will be closed at times to complete the work.

The contractor could start as early as May 1.  However, no start date for the project has been announced.

Once the project begins the contractor will have up to 70 calendar days to complete the pavement reconstruction portion of the project.
