St. Louis Work Zones for March 16-22

Weekend Closures on I-44 and I-55 Will Impact Motorists

ST. LOUIS – Work on a section of I-44/I-55 will significantly impact drivers in downtown St. Louis this weekend, closing all but one lane between Broadway and Park for about a day.

The work, which is scheduled to start on Saturday, March 18 at 5 a.m., will also close the following ramps:

  • Southbound Memorial to westbound I-44/southbound I-55
  • Westbound Poplar Street Bridge to westbound I-44/southbound I-55
  • Westbound Poplar Street Bridge to Walnut
  • Westbound I-44/southbound I-55 to 7th Street

Weather permitting, the work is scheduled to be complete by March 19 at 5 a.m. When the lanes and ramps reopen, drivers will have only one lane open on the ramp from the westbound Poplar Street Bridge to westbound I-44/southbound I-55. They will also have three 10-foot lanes on westbound I-44/southbound I-55 between the Poplar Street Bridge and the I-44/I-55 interchange through July.

Meanwhile, work on northbound I-55 at Route Z in Jefferson County will close one lane from Friday, March 17 at 5 p.m. through Monday, March 20 at 5 a.m. MoDOT will use the zipper merge technique during the lane closure.

In addition to the lane closure, the exit from northbound I-55 to Route Z will also be closed.  Drivers can detour around exit closure by taking northbound I-55 to Route M to southbound I-55 and back to Route Z.
