Eastbound Missouri River Bridge to Get More Energy Efficient Lighting

Work Will Briefly Close Lanes, Main Street Ramp on April 10

The eastbound Missouri River Bridge in Jefferson City will soon be equipped with more energy efficient lighting to illuminate the way for motorists.

Missouri Department of Transportation crews on April 10 will replace the current lights with longer-lasting LED beams. The moving operation will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will close first the right lane and then the left lane on the bridge. The Main Street ramp will also be closed during the work. All work is weather permitting.

“We’ll wait until after the morning rush hour to begin the work, and we should be finished within a few hours,” said Trent Brooks, traffic engineer for MoDOT’s Central District. “Given the time of day, we don’t anticipate a great deal of congestion due to one lane being closed. Still, we encourage drivers to be on the lookout for our crews and to slow down and use caution when crossing the bridge.”

LED lights were placed on the westbound Missouri River Bridge when it was closed for repainting last year.

The bridges carry Route 54/63 over the Missouri River.
