Traffic Alert: Crews Will CLOSE portions of I-470 Overnight for Bridge Demolition Beginning April 10

JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will CLOSE portions of Interstate 470 OVERNIGHT from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning April 10 through Thursday night, April 13 to demolish the Raytown Road Bridge, which is scheduled for rehabilitation. Traffic will be re-directed over the Raytown Road exit ramps then back onto I-470. The bridge will be completely CLOSED through September. All work is weather permitting. 

Closures for bridge demolition include the following:

  • Southbound Raytown Road at Bannister Road closed to thru traffic
  • Northbound Raytown Road at Longview Parkway closed to thru traffic
  • Eastbound I-470 past Blue Ridge Boulevard to Raytown Road closed to thru traffic
  • Westbound I-470 at View High Drive to Raytown Road closed to thru traffic

The Raytown Road Bridge will be completely closed during construction through September and local traffic will be diverted onto I-470 to route around the closure.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
