Stone County Residents Invited to Phone-In Public Meeting

To Learn More About Bridge Replacement on Route V/Goff Creek

Stone County – A phone-in public meeting is planned for April 27 where Stone County residents can phone in and ask questions about plans to replace the Stone County Route V bridge over Goff Creek west of Ponce de Leon, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

MoDOT project experts will be available from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, by calling (417) 829-8008.

Those unable to call in during that time can visit www.modot.org/southwest and view a web page with information about the project.  They also can make comments or submit questions via email by clicking on the “Give us your comments on this project” link at the bottom of the web page.

MoDOT plans to remove the existing Goff Creek bridge during the summer of 2018 and replace it with a new structure.

The current bridge was built in 1952 and has deteriorated to the point where it must be replaced.

Stone County Route V will be closed during the project so that the old bridge can be removed and the new bridge built in its place.

The new structure will be 24-feet wide, four feet wider than the current bridge.  The pavement on either end of the bridge also will be replaced and new guardrail will be installed approaching the bridge.

The total project cost is estimated at $919,000.
