Ozark, Christian County – A project to widen South Street (Business 65) on the southern edge of Ozark starting in 2018 will be the focus of a public meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 27 in Ozark, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The public is invited to attend the come-and-go style meeting to learn more about the plans to add lanes to South Street between 19th Street and 6th Street and widen the intersection of South Street/3rd Street/Selmore Road.
The meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, at Ozark South Elementary School Library, 1250 W. South Street. NO FORMAL PRESENTATION IS PLANNED.
At the in-person meeting, MoDOT representatives will be available to talk with area residents about the impacts of the project and answer questions.
Those unable to attend the in-person meeting can view exhibits and get project timeline information by visiting an online public meeting at www.modot.org/southwest. The information will be posted on the MoDOT Southwest District’s website by the afternoon of April 27.
It is expected the actual construction work on the project will take place beginning in the spring/summer 2018 with completion in 2019.
The project is partnership between the city of Ozark and MoDOT.
Project highlights:
- Widen South Street (Business 65) to five lanes between 19th Street and 6th Street
- Widen intersection of South Street/Selmore Road/3rd Street by adding dual turn lanes from northbound Selmore Road to westbound South Street and from southbound 3rd Street to eastbound South Street and adding two eastbound and two westbound through lanes
- Install new storm drains and add curb and gutter along South Street
- Build sidewalks in areas along South Street
- Estimated total cost: $8.5 million
