Traffic Alert: Crews Will CLOSE Left Lanes of Northbound and Southbound I-49 Beginning May 2

JACKSON AND CASS COUNTIES – The Missouri Department of Transportation will have multiple closures of the left lanes of both northbound and southbound Interstate 49 beginning on Tuesday, May 2, at 10 p.m. until Thursday, May 4, at 5 a.m. The closures are for girder work. All work is weather permitting. 

  • The left lane of northbound I-49 will be closed for girder staging on both Tuesday, May 2, and Wednesday, May 3, from noon to 10 p.m.
  • The two left lanes of both northbound and southbound I-49 will be closed beginning Tuesday, May 2, at 10 p.m. until Wednesday, May 3 at 5 a.m. for setting of girders.
  • The two left lanes of southbound I-49 will be closed beginning Wednesday, May 3, at 10 p.m. until Thursday, May 4, at 5 a.m. for setting of girders.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
