Route 125/Swan Creek Bridge Replacement Project

Focus of May 9 Public Meeting in Chadwick

Christian County – Area residents are invited to a public meeting on May 9 in Chadwick to learn more about plans to replace the Route 125 bridge over Swan Creek near Garrison in 2018, the Missouri Department of Transportation said. 

The meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, at the Chadwick School, 7090 State Highway 125. The meeting will be a come-and-go style meeting with NO FORMAL PRESENTATION planned. 

Those unable to attend the meeting can visit an online meeting at www.modot.org/southwest where they can view exhibits and make comments about the plans to replace the aging bridge. 

MoDOT plans to replace the bridge in 2018. 

During construction, Route 125 will be closed to traffic up to six months. During the closing, Route 125 traffic will be detoured using Christian County Route UU and Christian County Route T. 

The existing bridge was built in 1960 and has been in need of frequent repairs in recent years. 

Project Highlights:

  • Replace existing bridge with a new structure
  • New bridge raised two feet higher than existing bridge. Route 125 also will be raised to meet the new bridge.
  • New bridge will be 26 feet wide
  • Route 125 CLOSED during construction up to six months
  • Estimated total project cost: $2.6 million
