Route 63 Near Vienna to Close Due to Flooding

JEFFERSON CITY – Route 63 south of Vienna in Maries County is expected to close later this afternoon (April 30, 2017) due to flooding.

The detour for motorists traveling south on Route 63 is Route 50 to Interstate 44 to Route 63. The northbound detour is I-44 to Route 50 to Route 63.

In addition, all lanes of Interstate 44 in each direction at Hazelgreen in Laclede County (mile marker 144) and Jerome in Phelps County (mile marker 172) are closed.

Other major road closures include U.S. 60 at Rogersville, which has one lane of traffic moving in each direction (head to head); and U.S. 61, which is closed north of Troy at the Cuivre River. Motorists must use alternate routes around U.S. 61.

Flooding has closed numerous roads throughout the state. Drivers are advised to avoid these areas and seek alternate routes. Road conditions can change rapidly, and motorists are encouraged to check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map, located at www.modot.org, or call the department’s toll free number at 1-888-ASK-MODOT to get updated road conditions.

Motorists should take extra care in their travels during this time and never attempt to get around roadway barriers or drive across flooded roadways. MoDOT also recommends allowing extra travel time if detours are necessary.
