Bridge Replacements Planned for Seeber Branch and Spees Branch on Missouri Route 156 in Lewis County

MACON - Weather permitting, Tuesday, May 9, Missouri Route 156 in Lewis County will be closed to traffic for two bridge replacements west of Lewis County Route D near Newark.

The contractor will begin on Seeber Branch and upon completion move to Spees Branch. These bridges are currently posted as one lane bridges. The new bridges will be 24 feet wide, which is 4 feet wider than the existing ones, and striped as two lane. They will also have guardrail added for safety.

The contractor will have 75 calendar days to complete each bridge.

Signs are in place notifying motorists of the upcoming work. Motorists will need to use alternate routes during this time. Some areas of the road will remain open to local traffic only; all other traffic must take alternate routes. Chester Bross Construction of Palmyra, Missouri was awarded the contract for both bridges at $957,555.
