MoDOT Will Increase Speeds on Route 71 From Three Trails Crossing to 75th Street

LEE’S SUMMIT – Traffic engineers with Missouri Department of Transportation recently completed a speed study along U.S. Route 71 in Jackson County. They are recommending a speed increase from 55 miles per hour to 65 miles per hour from the Three Trails Crossing interchange to  1/2 mile south of 75th Street. At that point, the speeds will slow to 55 miles per hour and then 45 miles per hour as drivers enter the urban corridor. The speed limits north of 75th Street will remain the same at 45 miles per hour.

Motorists will see crews installing signs on May 3, weather permitting. The speed limit remains the same until ALL signs are posted.

The Missouri Department of Transportation urges all motorists to always wear safety belts, follow posted speed limits and be alert for slowed traffic, narrowed lanes or a reduced number of lanes during construction and maintenance work.
