ST. LOUIS – Work will begin later this year on projects to improve safety at 31 locations in St. Charles County and Franklin County.
Missouri Department of Transportation officials announced today that NB West Contracting Company’s proposal was the apparent best value to design and build the $24 million project. They are partnered with Horner & Shifrin, Inc., Lochmueller Group and Engineering Design Source Inc.
NB West was one of five design-build contractor teams competing for the project. The design-build process gives prequalified teams the opportunity to use innovative processes to meet established goals for a project. The contractor team whose proposal best meets the projects’ goals is determined to be the apparent best value.
“This design-build project is very exciting because rather than building one new bridge or a new road, it will make safety improvements to various routes in two counties,” said Greg Horn, MoDOT St. Louis district engineer. “It allows us to improve the safety for the traveling public in multiple locations rather than one.”
The next step is for NB West to fine-tune its design plans. When those are complete, MoDOT will release more details on the overall project and any potential traffic impacts.
Construction is expected to begin later this year, and will be complete by fall of 2019.
