CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation have extended pavement work along I-29. Crews have reduced southbound I-29 to one lane between I-635 and Vivion Rd. and the on-ramp to northbound 169 from 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 and will continue through 5 a.m. Friday, May 12 for new pavement construction work. Originally, the work was scheduled to end Tuesday, May 9.
In addition, the ramp from southbound I-29 to northbound Route 169 is closed, as well as the ramp from Waukomis Drive (Route AA) to southbound I-29 for the same extended time period. All work is weather dependent.
Substantial delays are expected during morning and evening rush hours while the construction work is underway. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes during peak hours.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
