Greene, Webster and Laclede Counties – Drivers can expect nighttime lane closings on Interstate 44 between a point east of Strafford and Laclede County Route Y in Conway (Mile Markers 89-115) beginning the week of May 22, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Contractor crews will resurface a 35-mile stretch of I-44. The project includes grinding off the top layer of old asphalt and then laying a new asphalt driving surface.
The work will take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Friday each week. Crews may work Saturday nights if they need to make up missed work.
The project also includes installing new guardrail in areas. This work will start the week of May 15. This work also will take place at night.
A section of I-44 near Northview (Mile Marker 96) will receive a surface treatment to improve traction on curves.
People living along I-44 can expect noise during nighttime hours where crews are working. However, the work will be continually moving to a new location each night.
The project is scheduled for completion by November 1. However, the contractor expects to complete the work by the end of August.
The prime contractor is Journagan Construction, Inc. of Springfield, doing the work for a low bid amount of $6 million.
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
