Public Meeting Scheduled to Discuss Bridge Replacement in Camden County

The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Monday, May 22 to discuss replacing the Route J bridge over the Little Niangua River in Camden County.

The proposed project includes building a new Route J bridge on a new alignment just north of the existing bridge. The Rainwater Creek bridge will also be replaced. The original bridges were constructed in 1932 and are 20 feet wide.  The new bridges will be 26 feet wide.

The contract for the project will be awarded in the spring of 2018 with construction to start in the summer of 2018.

The public meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the offices of the Camdenton-Area Chamber of Commerce, 739 West U.S. Highway 54 in Camdenton. The meeting facility is accessible to people with disabilities.

No formal presentation will be made. The public may attend the meeting at any time between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to speak with staff from MoDOT.  Various project displays will be available at the meeting, and the public is encouraged to ask questions and provide input.  All comments will be taken into consideration and made a part of the project file.

Displays and project information presented at the public meeting will be available at www.modot.org/central the day after the meeting. For more information, call toll free 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636).
