BETHANY, Mo. – Local residents will have a new, smoother driving surface sooner than we thought. Contractors from Herzog Contracting Corp., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, have moved the anticipated start date from May 30 to Friday, May 19.
The contractor plans to start at the south end at Route 146 in Grundy County. They will close the road in two mile segments beginning at approximately 7 a.m. As they complete each two mile segment, they will reopen it and move north. They plan to open the route to all traffic each evening.
The project will progress north to U.S. Route 136. This overlay will take several days. After the overlay, crews will sign and stripe the route. The project should take approximately two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Schedules are subject to change. MoDOT encourages all motorists to slow down, buckle up, eliminate distractions and drive safely to ensure everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
