Pavement Sealing Work Scheduled for Various Routes in

Greene, Polk, Lawrence, Dallas, Cedar & Dade Counties Beginning Week of May 22

MoDOT Southwest District – Five state routes – in Greene, Polk, Lawrence, Dallas, Cedar and Dade counties – are scheduled to be sealed with a mixture of rock and oil beginning the week of May 22, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Here’s a look at the locations and the tentative schedule:

  • Route H in Greene County from the city limits of Springfield north approximately 14 miles to Missouri Route 215 in Pleasant Hope in Polk County – late May
  • Missouri Route 32 in Polk County from the city limits of Bolivar east approximately 14 miles to U.S. Route 65 in Buffalo in Dallas County – late May
  • Missouri Route 97 in Lawrence County from Missouri Route 96 south approximately eight miles to Interstate 44 near Stotts City – early June
  • Missouri Route 39 in Lawrence County from the city limits of Mt. Vernon north approximately 19 miles to Greenfield in Dade County – mid September
  • Missouri Route 39 in Dade County from Greenfield north approximately 25 miles to Stockton in Cedar County – early June

Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule

Drivers can expect one-lane traffic with flaggers and pilot vehicles directing them through the work zone.  Traffic could be stopped for several minutes. Delays are expected.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed when traveling over recently-sealed sections of highways.

A chip-seal is planned for these roads as an economical way to maintain and preserve the roadway. The treatments keep a road from deteriorating and will extend its life.

Project information:

  • Contractor: Blevins Asphalt Construction Co., Mt. Vernon
  • Total cost: $1.5 million
  • Completion date: November 1, 2017
