Expect Two Lane Closures in Both Directions on I-49 Beginning May 23

JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will have two lane closures along northbound and southbound Interstate 49 beginning Tuesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. until the following morning at 5 a.m. These lane closures are for bridge work and barrier construction. All work is weather permitting. 

  • Northbound I-49 will have two lanes closed from 163rd Street  to 155th Street beginning Tuesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. The closures are for bridge work. One lane of I-49 will remain closed until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, for barrier construction.
  • Southbound I-49 will have two lanes closed from Route 150 to 155th Street beginning on Tuesday, May 23, at 10 p.m. until the following morning at 5 a.m. One lane of I-49 will remain closed until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, for barrier construction.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
