SHERIDAN, Mo. – Two bridges in Worth County are scheduled to be replaced this construction season, which means two road closures.
The closure on Route 246 east of Sheridan will begin Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Contractors from Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. of Columbia, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will close the road to all traffic at the Platte River Bridge early that morning to begin demolition of the old bridge. A new bridge will be built in its place and the road should reopen sometime in mid-September, weather permitting. During the closure motorists will need to use an alternate route.
The second closure, on Route 46 between Sheridan and Grant City, has already seen activity as Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. have been building a new bridge beside the old bridge. They will need to close Route 46 in order to tie in the new bridge to the existing roadway. The closure of Route 46 will begin early on Monday, June 5. That work should take approximately one month to complete, weather permitting. Motorists will be guided around the closure via a signed detour.
All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. MoDOT encourages all motorists to slow down, buckle up, eliminate distractions and drive safely to ensure everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
