Resurfacing Project to Begin on U.S. Route 61/U.S. Route 24 Interchange in Marion County

HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, Monday, July 10, a resurfacing project is planned to begin on the U.S. Route 61/U.S. Route 24 interchange near Taylor in Marion County. The total length of improvement will be .62 miles.

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc, was awarded the contract for $259,671.50.

The work will begin on the southbound ramp of the interchange on July 10 and will span until July 12. The northbound ramp work will take place from July 17-19. The ramps will be striped once the resurfacing work has been completed on both ramps.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. each day. Traffic control will be in place alerting motorists of the work.  Please use caution if you travel through this area, and obey all work zone signs and personnel.

There will also be an evening closure for work on the southbound lane from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night from July 10-12. Motorists will need to use the marked detour at that time. The detour will be using the Missouri Route 6 interchange.

Message boards will be in place notifying travelers of the road work and detour route for evening work. All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map. Those traveling and the commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones. MoDOT also offers e-update messages sent directly to your email when roadwork is scheduled. For more information contact MoDOT's Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK MoDOT (275-6636).
