Jasper County – Drivers can expect one-lane traffic and occasional traffic delays when a project to resurface and widen Missouri Route 37 in Jasper County begins the week of July 24, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Route 37 will receive a new driving surface and the roadway will be widened to include shoulders with edgeline rumble strips.
The work will take place along an 11-and-a-half-mile stretch of Route 37 between Missouri Route 96 and a point south of Joplin Street in Sarcoxie.
Drivers can expect flaggers on the road and pilot cars directing them through the work zone. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zone or before entering the work zone from a side road.
In addition, drivers can expect one lane traffic and temporary traffic signals at two bridges on Route 37 during this project:
- Over White Oak Creek, two miles south of Route 96
- Over Spring River, three miles south of Route 96
The temporary signals will be used to control traffic when contractor crews are making improvements to those bridges. The signals will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week once installed at those locations while the work is being done.
Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the work zone.
All lanes of traffic will be open during nighttime hours.
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
