Webster County Residents Invited to Phone-In Public Meeting

To Learn More About Bridge Rehabilitation Projects on Routes B & KK

Webster County – A phone-in public meeting is planned for August 10 where Webster County residents can phone in and ask questions about plans to rehabilitate the Route B and Route KK bridges over the James River south of Marshfield, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

MoDOT project experts will be available from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, by calling (417) 829-8008.

Those unable to call in during that time can visit www.modot.org/southwest and view a web page with information about the projects.  They also can make comments or submit questions via email by clicking on the “Give us your comments on this project” link at the bottom of the web page.

MoDOT plans to remove the decks from the two bridges over the James River in 2018. The projects will be done one at a time. Each road will be closed during construction, but both roads will NOT be closed at the same time.

A signed detour will be set up during construction. The detour will use Route B or Route KK, Route OO, Route 38, and Route PP.

The Route B bridge was built in 1948 and the Route KK bridge was built in 1962. Both bridges have seen deterioration to the driving surfaces over the last several years. The work to make improvements will extend the life of both bridges.

The new bridge decks or driving surfaces will be slightly wider than the existing decks and new guardrail will be installed at the ends of the bridges.

The total project cost is estimated at $1.4 million.
