MACON - Weather permitting, Macon County Route C will be closed approximately 2.5 miles south of Bevier beginning Monday, August 14. The road will be closed to replace the bridge over Claybank Creek, just south of Route FF.
The new bridge will be 24 feet wide, which is 4 feet wider than the existing one. There will also be curve widening improvements south of the bridge.
The contractor will have 75 calendar days to complete the bridge.
Signs will be in place notifying motorists of the upcoming work. Motorists will need to use alternate routes during this time. No signed detour will be in place.
Chester Bross Construction Company of Palmyra was awarded the contract for the bridge at $529,004.
