St. Louis Work Zones for July 27-August 2

MoDOT schedules short closures on Route 141, I-44 overnight this week

ST. LOUIS – Drivers on Route 141 or I-44 near Valley Park should consider alternate routes or allow themselves extra time overnight Thursday and Friday. Crews will be closing Route 141 each night, and will be closing I-44 on Friday night for up to 15 minutes at a time to place girders for the bridge over Route 141 and the new flyover ramp from southbound Route 141 to EB I-44.

On Thursday, July 27 crews will be placing girders for the portion of the new flyover ramp over Route 141. Drivers can expect the following:

  • At 7 p.m., crews will close one lane in both directions of Route 141.
  • At 8 p.m., crews will close a second lane in both directions of Route 141 and will put the North Highway Drive signal on flash. Crews will also remove the northbound Route 141 signal at South Highway Drive and place stop signs at the intersection.
  • At 9 p.m., crews will completely close northbound Route 141 at South Highway Drive. Drivers can detour around the closure by taking South Highway Drive to Maritz to North Highway Drive to northbound Route 141.
  • At 9 p.m., crews will start setting girders. When they swing girders over the roadway, they will close southbound Route 141 for up to 15 minutes at a time.
  • By 5 a.m. Friday, July 28, crews will have replaced the northbound Route 141 signal, started all signals cycling again and have all lanes open.

On Friday, July 28, crews will be placing girders over I-44 for the new flyover ramp. Here’s what drivers can expect that night:

  • At 8 p.m., crews will close one lane in both directions of I-44.
  • At 10 p.m., crews will close a second lane in both directions of I-44.
  • After 11 p.m., crews will place the North Highway Drive and South Highway Drive signals on flash. They will begin to set the girders over the interstate which will require a full closure of up to 15 minutes in each direction. When the interstate is closed, traffic will be routed down the ramp and back onto the interstate.
  • By 6 a.m., Saturday, July 29, crews will have started all the signals cycling again and will have all lanes open.

In St. Charles County, motorists who use Wentzville Parkway to access I-70 need to give themselves extra travel time during next week’s morning rush period. MoDOT will close lanes on Wentzville Parkway nightly next week to do a thin layer resurfacing of the overpass. The work will require various lanes on Wentzville Parkway to be closed from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. from Monday, July 31 through Thursday, August 3.
