SOUTHBOUND ROUTE 65 NOW OPEN BETWEEN I-44 AND SUNSHINE STREET IN SPRINGFIELD
I-44 RAMPS TO SOUTHBOUND ROUTE 65 OPEN BY MIDNIGHT SUNDAY, JULY 30
Northbound Route 65 closings scheduled to begin early Monday morning, August 7
WHAT’S OPEN:
- Southbound Route 65 OPEN between Kearney Street and Sunshine Street
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
- ROUTE 65:
- Southbound Route 65 OPEN between Kearney Street and Sunshine Street
- Throughout Sunday evening, one or two lanes of southbound Route 65 could be closed and ramps at interchanges closed for short periods for pavement striping
- I-44 RAMPS:
- I-44 ramps to southbound Route 65 scheduled to OPEN by midnight
- TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SIGNALS:
- Located at Eastgate Avenue & Cherry Street, Eastgate Avenue & Catalpa Street, and LeCompte Road & Division Street intersections
- Traffic signals in full operation
- Delays occurring at three temporary traffic signals
- Traffic signals are temporary and will be removed when the closings of Route 65 are complete in late August/early September
(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.)
Project Summary:
- Rebuild outside two lanes in both directions of Route 65 between Kearney Street and Sunshine Street
- Route 65 CLOSED in segments (between interchanges) in one direction at a time from week of July 10 until first of September
- Southbound closings start on July 10 with completion by late July
- Southbound closed between Kearney and Division Streets week of July 10 – COMPLETED
- Southbound closed between Division Street and Chestnut Expressway week of July 17 – COMPLETED
- Southbound closed between Chestnut Expressway and Sunshine Street week of July 24 – COMPLETED
- Northbound closings start on August 7 with completion by early September
- Northbound closed between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway week of August 7
- Northbound closed between Chestnut Expressway and Division Street week of August 14
- Northbound closed between Division Street and Kearney Street week of August 21
- Rebuild or repair interchange ramps
- Upgrade guardrail
- Rebuild outside shoulders
- Prime Contractor: Millstone Weber, LLC of St. Charles, Mo.
- Completion Date: November 2017
- Total Project Cost: $7.9 million
