Speed Limit to Be Reduced on Section of Camden County Route A

CAMDEN COUNTY – In an effort to increase safety on Camden County Route A near Linn Creek, the speed limit will be lowered from 55 mph to 45 mph on Route A from U.S. Route 54 to Midway Road.

The new speed limit will take effect when permanent signs are posted on Wednesday, Aug. 16. Message boards have been placed at both ends of the route to inform motorists of the speed limit reduction.

Traffic officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation conducted a speed study for the location at the request of a concerned citizen. MoDOT considers the area’s crash history, current vehicle speeds, pedestrian and bicycle activity, presence of parking, and roadway alignment when making speed-limit changes.

“We believe that the lower speed limit will make traveling on this stretch of Route A Road safer for motorists,” said MoDOT Senior Traffic Studies Specialist Ericka Ross.
