MACON - Weather permitting, Monday, August 14, work will begin on U.S. Route 63 in Randolph County at the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, located 2.6 miles north of Randolph County Route B. The bridge is scheduled for deck replacement.
“The first phase of the project will be to construct temporary bypasses, as southbound traffic will be diverted to northbound lanes while bridge construction takes place,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Haeffner. The construction of the bypasses will take approximately 3 weeks and require that both passing lanes, northbound and southbound, be closed to build them.
Once the bypasses are completed, the southbound lanes will be closed and traffic moved to the northbound lanes. The contractor will then have 60 calendar days to complete the bridge.
E&C Bridge, LLC of Jamestown, Missouri was awarded the contract for $736,781.
