MILLER COUNTY – While the Missouri Route 52 bridge over U.S. Route 54 in Eldon will once again carry two lanes of traffic beginning Monday, Missouri Department of Transportation officials are warning drivers that the lanes will be narrowed to 10 feet and that much work remains before the bridge redeck project is complete in September.
“We’re pleased to be able to open the bridge to two lanes of traffic, but we want motorists to know they are still going to encounter narrow lanes and a good deal of construction work,” said Chris Graham, resident engineer for MoDOT’s Central District.
The bridge deck work is being performed in phases, Graham said. When the bridge opens to two lanes of traffic on Monday, the lanes will be narrowed to give crews room to work on repairing another section of the bridge.
“While there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, we want folks to know some work still remains before traffic flow returns to normal,” Graham said.
