BROWNING, Mo. – Repairs to roadside slides along Routes 5 and 6 have been underway for some time. Contractors from Above and Below Contracting, LLC of Festus, Missouri, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation are now moving to Route 5 just north of Browning in Sullivan County where they will need to reduce the road to just one lane of traffic beginning Aug. 7. This closure will be in place daylight to dusk Monday through Thursday, while the crews are working at this site. They hope to have this portion of the project, completed Aug. 15, weather permitting. All schedules are subject to change. When the roadway is narrowed, flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
Once this slide is repaired, the project should be complete. The project included five slide locations on Route 6 between Milan and Green City, including one in the city limits of Milan, and this slide location on Route 5:
- Route 6 just west of Green City
- Route 6 just east of the Yellow Creek Bridge
- Route 6 just east of the Route J and P junction
- Route 6 just east of Route Y
- Route 6 just south of Route E in Milan
- Route 5 just north of Browning
