SIKESTON-Due to concerns about roadway stability, Route 106 near Logan Creek located west of Ellington, Mo. will CLOSE Tuesday, Aug. 8 through Monday, Sept. 11, weather permitting.
Route 106 was previously reduced to one lane as the Missouri Department of Transportation’s contractor crews worked to repair the slide that developed during the flood last spring.
“We hoped to keep one lane of traffic open throughout the repair project. But during the excavation process, we became concerned about the stability of the surrounding roadway,” said MoDOT Assistant District Engineer Chris Rutledge. “MoDOT values safety, and we will not keep a roadway or bridge open that is deemed unsafe.”
During the closure, additional excavation and repair work will be completed to this section of roadway and the surrounding right-of-way.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes. For additional information, contact MoDOT’s Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK-MODOT (1-888-275-6636) or visit www.modot.org/southeast.
