ROUTE 65 REBUILD TRAFFIC ALERT:

NORTHBOUND ROUTE 65 NOW CLOSED BETWEEN CHESTNUT EXPRESSWAY AND DIVISION STREET

Northbound Route 65 OPEN between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway, but reduced to one lane                        

WHAT’S CLOSED:  

• Northbound Route 65 CLOSED between Chestnut Expressway and Division Street until late in the day on Sunday, August 20
• Ramp from Chestnut Expressway to northbound Route 65 CLOSED
• Ramp from northbound Route 65 to Division Street CLOSED
• Two northbound lanes of Route 65 closed between a point north of Battlefield Road to Chestnut Expressway 

WHAT’S OPEN:  

• Northbound Route 65 OPEN between Route 60 and Chestnut Expressway, but reduced to one lane
• Northbound Route 65 OPEN between Division Street and I-44
• Northbound Route 65 ramp to Chestnut Expressway is OPEN; northbound drivers can and must exit at Chestnut Expressway
• All southbound lanes of Route 65 in Springfield are OPEN

 TRAFFIC IMPACTS:  

• ROUTE 65:
  • Northbound Route 65 CLOSED between Chestnut Expressway and Division Street
  • Northbound Route 65 reduced to one lane between a point north of Battlefield Road and Chestnut Expressway
• ROUTE 65 DETOUR:
  • Signed detour using Route 60/360 to I-44 (west loop around Springfield)
  • Secondary detour using Route 60 to Route 125 to I-44 east of Springfield
  • Drivers encouraged to find alternate routes to destinations inside Springfield including Glenstone Avenue, Kansas Expressway and West Bypass
• TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SIGNALS:
• Located at Eastgate Avenue & Cherry Street, Eastgate Avenue & Catalpa Street, and LeCompte Road & Division Street intersections
• Traffic signals in full operation
• Delays occurring at three temporary traffic signals
• Traffic signals are temporary and will be removed when the closings of Route 65 are complete in late August/early September 

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.) 

Project Summary:

• Rebuild outside two lanes in both directions of Route 65 between Kearney Street and Sunshine Street
• Route 65 CLOSED in segments (between interchanges) in one direction at a time from week of July 10 until first of September
• Northbound closings start on August 7 with completion by early September
  • Northbound closed between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway week of August 7 -- COMPLETED
  • Northbound closed between Chestnut Expressway and Division Street week of August 14
  • Northbound closed between Division Street and Kearney Street week of August 21
• Southbound closings COMPLETED
  • Southbound closed between Kearney and Division Streets week of July 10 – COMPLETED
  • Southbound closed between Division Street and Chestnut Expressway week of July 17 -- COMPLETED
  • Southbound closed between Chestnut Expressway and Sunshine Street week of July 24 -- COMPLETED
• Rebuild or repair interchange ramps
• Upgrade guardrail
• Rebuild outside shoulders
• Prime Contractor: Millstone Weber, LLC of St. Charles, Mo.
• Completion Date: November 2017
• Total Project Cost: $7.9 million
