Route 65: THE REBUILD - Springfield

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE PROJECT IN THE COMING WEEK:

• ALL LANES OF ROUTE 65 OPEN DURING DAYTIME HOURS after Sunday night, August 27

• Northbound Route 65 between Division Street and Kearney Street set to REOPEN by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, August 27

• Both northbound Route 65 ramps at Kearney Street CLOSED until 6 p.m. Monday, August 28 

• Nighttime lane and ramp closings possible on Route 65 throughout the week                                            

Work Scheduled:  

• Building shoulders along the northbound Route 65 ramps at Kearney Street
• Grinding pavement in areas including the ramp from northbound Route 65 to Division Street and the northbound ramps at Kearney Street 

Traffic Impacts:  

• ALL LANES OF ROUTE 65 OPEN during daytime hours
  • Northbound Route 65 ramps at Kearney Street CLOSED until 6 p.m. Monday, August 28
• NIGHT WORK:
  • Northbound Route 65 ramp to Division Street CLOSED at night
  • Northbound Route 65 ramps at Kearney Street CLOSE at night
  • Route 65 northbound and southbound lanes closed at times
  • Work hours: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
• Temporary traffic signals at Eastgate Avenue & Cherry Street, Eastgate Avenue & Catalpa Street, and LeCompte Road & Division Street intersections removed sometime during the week. Intersections reverting back to four-way stops. 

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.) 

Project Summary:

• Rebuild outside two lanes in both directions of Route 65 between Kearney Street and Sunshine Street
• Route 65 CLOSED in segments (between interchanges) in one direction at a time from week of July 10 until first of September
• Northbound closings start on August 7 with completion by late August/early September
  • Northbound closed between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway week of August 7 – COMPLETED
  • Northbound closed between Chestnut Expressway and Division Street week of August 14 -- COMPLETED
  • Northbound closed between Division Street and Kearney Street week of August 21 -- COMPLETED
• Southbound closings started on July 10 and were complete on July 30
  • Southbound closed between Kearney and Division Streets week of July 10 -- COMPLETED
  • Southbound closed between Division Street and Chestnut Expressway week of July 17 – COMPLETED
  • Southbound closed between Chestnut Expressway and Sunshine Street week of July 24 – COMPLETED
• Rebuild or repair interchange ramps
• Upgrade guardrail
• Rebuild outside shoulders
• Prime Contractor: Millstone Weber, LLC of St. Charles, Mo.
• Completion Date: November 2017
• Total Project Cost: $7.9 million
