Springfield, Greene County – Drivers can expect nighttime lane closings on I-44 and possible interchange ramp closings between Glenstone Avenue and West Bypass in Springfield starting Tuesday, Sept. 5, when a project begins to lengthen nine of the ramps, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Drivers can expect one lane of I-44 to be closed where crews are working and, at times, the ramps may be closed to complete the work.
The traffic impacts will take place at night between 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. All lanes and interchange ramps are scheduled to be open during daytime hours.
Here’s a look at where the ramp work will take place:

The project had a delayed start until the Route 65: THE REBUILD project was largely completed.
It is anticipated that contractor crews will complete the lengthening of four of the interchange ramps in 2017. Construction will stop during the winter months and will resume in spring 2018 with completion by late July 2018.
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
The prime contractor doing the work is Emery Sapp & Sons, Columbia, Mo.
The estimated total project cost is $2.2 million
