ST. LOUIS – Drivers heading from south St. Louis into Illinois on eastbound I-64 across the Mississippi River on the Poplar Street Bridge should consider alternate routes through February.
Crews will close the ramp from eastbound I-44/northbound I-55 to eastbound I-64 – the Poplar Street Bridge—at 9 p.m. Friday, September 8. The ramp will remain closed around the clock through February.
Crews are closing the ramp to rebuild and widen it as part of ongoing work to the Poplar Street Bridge Project. While the ramp is closed, the two right lanes on the eastbound Poplar Street Bridge from the ramp into Illinois will also be closed so crews can place a new driving surface on them. Two lanes will remain open on eastbound I-64 from 6th Street to Illinois Route 3.
The ramp from eastbound I-44/northbound I-55 to Walnut Street will remain open during this work.
Detour routes will be marked, though downtown drivers should consider I-255 or I-270, using 6th Street to access eastbound I-64 or using Tucker to access the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge.
